Been thinking about purchasing a set of back rest for my wave, just wondering how far off the hull and the height off the seat they are. I'm not a tall person and and my concern is that they may not be comfortable. :D

The back rest for my wave is comfortable for my young kids & mom.

It's a video, not a photo. Just click on the triangle to play the video.

The back rests are great for those relaxing days, and of course you can remove them, when not needed pretty easy. I think that I may only have 2 of the covers for the hulls where the rests are inserted. I think it takes on water through the crossbars, but water seems to find its way in there anyway.

The Wave back rest is just that... a back rest. They are not designed to sit on.

I understand that there are back rest and not to be used as a seat.
 I don’t have to worry about the height of the back rest, I decided to make a set that were adjustable, just below shoulder blades to the lower back, this way I can set them where I want…..up high or down low. There made out of 1 1/2" schedule 40 aluminum tubing & 1 1/2"schedule 40 alumminum elbows with a 6" radius, pinned them on the inside and welded them up. Still cost a few bucks but I got what I needed. :D

This season I will try to use this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160869831137? ... 1439.l2649

It is a sort of alternative to the standard hobie backrest. I find it useful on a multiday trips where the wind can change. I will use it in light to moderate winds, sitting on a hull facing to the bow or sitting on a tramp. In heavy winds it will be just tied to the tramp and not used. I will come back after the test.
