Aloha I just recently bought a used Wave and wanted to get some advice on adjusting the rig. Was out sailing in 8-10 kts the other day and on the broad reach the leeward shroud was pretty much just flopping around ie it was de-tensioned completely. Is this norma? I am new to the Wave and would appreciate any suggestions on correct rig tensioning. Thanks Sebastian |

Lee shrouds going limp are pretty much the norm on all catamarans. More so on mast rigs that rotate. Even more on ones without diamond wires. Pretty normal on larger yachts with stiff rigs. Catamaran rotating masts bend when loaded. That shortens the distance from hull to hound. They also lean to the leeward side under load, further loosening the lee shroud. In addition, the Wave hulls flex quite a lot... bows pull together. All adds up to loose lee shroud when sailing. So... perfectly normal. |

Thanks, Matt - appreciate the info, it all makes perfect sense. Just not used to it, after sailing larger monohulls ... Regards, Sebastian |

Add a bow spreader to reduce hull flex. http://www.catsailor.com/store/pc/viewP ... tegory=261 |

I experimented with shimming it so that there was no end play, thinking the stiffness would help overall performance. Guess what? Yes it is stiffer, but the boat won't point for s---! Apparently the flex in the hulls allows you to pull the hulls together enough to add several degrees to your pointing ability. Go figure... |
