I have a 14 year old wave, that I just removed the badly faded decals. However, the plastic under the decals is not faded and you can still see the "ghost" image where the decals used to be. Is there a way I can get back the new shine? Thanks |

I would try a plastic polish. Available at stores like Walmart. If you are doing a large area you should invest in a power buffer. Alternatively you could try sand paper. I would suggest starting around 500 or 800 grit and finishing with 1000 grit. After polishing or sanding put some wax on the hulls. The wax will reduce UV transmission providing some protection from further oxidation, and it will make the hulls easier to wash. I do not believe that the wax will damage ABS plastic, but maybe someone can back me up or call me out on this one. Good luck |

The short answer to your question is "no." The hulls are made of polyethylene, not ABS. Sandpaper is useless, and may actually make things worse. |

It ABSOLUTELY makes things worse. I just used rubbing compound and a bugger on mine. Best I could hope for. |

Has anyone tried those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers? I have had great success with those. They get off all the dirt and do a very nice polishing job at the same time. The water just beads up afterward. They even do a decent job on the non skid. Be prepared, they wear down quickly and if the boat is really dirty you may need 2, or more. |

Magic Erasers tend to dull the finish. If your finish is already dull they are fantastic. My experience is limited to gel coat, but I suspect similar results on HDPE |
