Post subject:  sealing the inspection holes
I own a 2006 hobie wave that was leaking small amounts of water into the hull's after a full days sail. The seat pads are comming loose and I noticed the wave has 4 small inspection openings that are fastened with stainless screws under each seat pad.I removed these plastic caps,cleaned the old glue off and attempted to reseal the caps with clear silicone compound as well as glue the seat pads with the same silicone.
The silicone glue will not bond well with the material of the wave and even the seat pads have come loose again.Can anyone suggest a particular glue that will bond well and can be used to refasten the rubber seat pads as well?
This seems to be the cause of water in the hull's.

We use 3M 5200 to seal the inspection ports on Waves if they start leaking (and it's pretty rare). On the seat pads, we use either the 3M Marine Contact Cement (red can) to lay down an entire pad, or Barge General Cement just to reattach the edges.

Thank's for the tip,I purchased the 3m marine adhesive sealant fast cure 4000 uv and it works super!

Yeah... That's the downside of 5200... It takes a long time to cure. I haven't played with the 4000 but I'm sure it will work fine. 3M makes good stuff.
