Split hull

Where the hulls sit on trailer at the front. The pressure from the tie down, has caused the hulls to split inside. Only found it when I took off the hull plate to reseal it. Split is about 9 inches long and inner core has gone black with decay. Has anyone else had this happen. Any suggestions for a fix

Do you have a picture? i noticed on my old wave that the foam inner layer was splitting around the cross bar area. I think as long as the hull has not cracked through you will be just fine. This makes me want to go out and loosen my straps a half inch....
Let's see if others have something to say about this....

Not sure how to post a pic. However I scraped some of the inner core and it's quite soft, so although part of the hulls structure, I would assume the outer skin holds the real strength.

As a precaution though, I have scraped out the mould, filled with fibreglass, and placed two supports under where the hull sits on the roller.. just cut a plastic stormwater in ground gutter in half and sat it on the front roller. Will do a YouTube video in repairs soon. In I will also loosen my straps.

Ratchet style tie-down straps can be devastating re: the amount of compression force they can apply. I gave up using them a long time ago.

No ratchet tie downs used, but I note that a lot of cat trailers just have a u cradle instead of a front roller. New setup with cut in half stormwater drainage grate should do the trick
