So they both are in similar condition, is this something to worry about? Will I die?

We're all going to die, but some will go before others. Your photo indicates some damage/rot that could cause the bridle stays to fail, resulting in a dismast which depending on various factors could send the mast onto your head and then perhaps, yes, you would die.

Seriously, I wouldn't sail the boat like that. Get it fixed.

This is an older Wave that had Aluminum inserts. The water got to them and they started expanding with Corrosion.

We are talking mid to later 1990's construction...

We had a kit for that awhile ago.

Awesome. Looks simple enough. The SS nuts and bolts will be easy to find but any idea if the loops are out there? If necessary I can fabricate my own.
I am guessing about 1/2" wide strap with the bend matching the curvature of the hull. Of course drill hull to fit snugly.
Any idea what the strap dimensions should be? Length, width and thickness, extra gratitude for hole spacing measurements.

I think this is a 95 model, would that be right for this problem? Are they the ones with non-foam cored hulls?
Thanks!

You would have to fabricate. I'm guessing 1/2" wide and 1/8" thick strap. I don;t have any parts or a drawing.

Well, hoping this will work.
Of course both bows were repaired the same way.

Just like the Dr. Ordered!

The concept is the the insert spans between the two screws. Like a little dogbone. The strap holds it in...

I see this is an old thread. Gary do you have tips/suggestions/etc for making one of these? Any dimensions you can remember.

I just purchased a 97 wave and the hull has a small crack at one of the bridle loops

Thanks in advance

I would like to add this to my boat. I found the bolts and nuts on marineboltsupply.com, but I don't know how to make the strap. Can someone with the strap (original or self-fabricated) please measure it and post the dimensions, especially the length of the strap and the distance of the holes from the ends of the strap? Also, where can a marine grade strap of the appropriate width and thickness be purchased?
