Bought a used Wave. The mast really flexes in winds of 20 kts. The boat may have been a rental and used hard. I raced another Wave with a custom aluminum mast and lost badly. Could it be my comp tip is more flexible than it should be? I wonder if the glass breaks down after time and UV exposure. Anyone know? The boat feels sluggish and can barely lift a hull.

The wave mast is pretty strong, but does flex a lot due to no rotation controls.

A guy with an all aluminum mast would not be class compliant and should give time or be disallowed in racing.

You could get better performance by adding rotation controls.

You can stand the hulls on the sterns to fully drain. There is nothing inside that should absorb water, but it can get trapped in the deep keels, so you have to really lift the bows to drain fully.

Thanks Matt, I will play with rotational controls and see what happens.
