Main Leech Tension?

I was noticing that the leech on my mainsail is flogging about unless I’m sheeted super tight (like basically block to block).

I’m not sure if this is just the issue of an old worn out sail, or if I’m not tuning my rig properly.

I have the forestay pinned at the top hole in my adjuster, and my shrouds in the 3rd hole up from the bottom.

Seems like I’m spilling a lot of air out of the upper sail, any advice would be appreciated.

If when you sheet hard the blocks touch... you can rake a bit forward until you can get good sheet tension.

That’s the thing, I’m sheeting as hard as I possibly can, blocks still aren’t together and the leach is still flapping like crazy. I don’t get it.

Do you have battens installed in all of the batten pockets?

Sail fully hoisted with the halyard locked in the fork?

Are the two mast halves inserted all the way and the mast straight (when not under load)? A bent or damaged mast could cause leech tension issues.

Otherwise, I would guess the sail is blown out.

There is a chance the main wasn’t fully hoisted and locked into the fork at the top of the mast. Thanks
