what a disappointment it was.

I even pulled out the mast pin one time.

Many multi-hulls utilize a "preventer" which is nothing more than a length of bungee cord run from a point a couple feet from the mast base, out to equal distance points on the front cross beam. This sends your jib sheets and attachments up, over and away from the mast base.

we figured that out as well..

talked to the 18 fleet and very experianced hobie sailors

and went back on water this after noon with a fix. not 100 percent but winds where 16 to 21 knots. with waves about 3 feet high and spaced out about 2 seconds.

and wow can I know tac I bigger winds...

plus the wave goes much faster.

if you have any pics of the preventer can you pass along

I dont have pics of my anti-foul line, but it's simple. I attached two eye straps, one on each end of the front cross beam, and hog-ringed a bungee to one and I have a clip on the other side. Lift the jib sheets out of the way, wrap the bungee around the mast just below the sail and clip the line to the eye strap. It's 99% effective. One other thing I noticed is the hook for the down haul is a snagging point, so I changed it out for a clip.

I never understood why there are/were so many negative comments on the jib (perhaps it was all Rick White), but I NEVER sail the wave without the jib.

after the little mods it was a blast in the winds.

just now have to figure out if my new windfinder will get whacked by the jib...

still need to get that put up and tested.

Purple lines are my jib lines, I attach them to the spreader bar when not in use. I added the jib blocks and a longer (purple) line. The black bunjies limit mast rotation when the boat is stored on the lift.

I also added 3 more hanks to the jib. This really helps with the sail shape as the single factory hank is not enough.

They are all above the forestay adjuster. I also made a bridal for the jib

did any of you upgrade the light jib lines for more larger ones.

as we went out in high winds 21 to 24kts

and the jib was all over the place

we coildn not control it at all.

we had to go back on land and take it down

getting frustrated as I watch others on YouTube use there's and no issues at all.

not sure why
