I keep my Club Wave in a boat slip in the water all summer May - Sept. It's on a lake which has many motor boats and jet skis. When my boat is in the slip, the waves rock it side to side. The upper mast is taking a beating. To minimize the mast and side stays from being yanked back and forth, I tie a line from one side stay to the other and pull tight. This prevents a lot of movement but the upper mast still rocks back and forth because it doesn't fit tight into the lower mast.

Where the upper and lower mast join, the coating on the upper mast has chipped and small pieces have broken off. I'm concerned the mast will eventually split from the stress. At the boat shop where I buy supplies, the manager suggested perhaps a plastic sleeve of some kind could be made that would fit around that area where the upper and lower mast join. They don't have a very tight fit where they join. Something to take the play out of that joint would do the trick but what is that something.

Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do about it? I don't have the option of keeping the boat on land.

You could epoxy the mast together like Hobie recommends for the Getaway.

Thank you for the suggestion. I may do that.
