Post subject:  hull bottom thickness

Hello: I have an older Hobie wave, and it appears that one of the hulls was replaced. The port hull was made in the late 90s, while the starboard hull is from the early 2000s. Both hulls appear to have been dragged across quite a bit of sand over the years, as they are basically flat along the bottom. I do have inspection ports in each hull, and the inside of the hull bottom appears to be solid. However, I can't tell how much plastic lies below. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me how thick the Hobie Wave hulls are along the bottom. I am a bit worried about grinding though the next time I sail at the beach. Thanks.

There is an outer "Cross-Linked" polyethylene that varies in thickness, but maybe 3/16" or more. Then an inner core of foamy plastic that is pretty thick...1/4" or more as a guess.
