I have a 1996 Hobie Wave Classic. I want to add a jib to add speed and control.

I got an old (but in very good condition) Hobie 16 jib cheap from a guy on Craigslist. It looks like I can make it fit my Hobie Wave by simply removing a certain amount of the bottom of the Hobie 16 jib.

Perhaps the width of Hobie 16 jib Will need to be modified as well to make it effective as. Hobie Wave jib.

I already added a spreader bar.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Lon

I have a stock jib and its measurements are as follows (all measurements are in inches):

Luff: 140 "

Foot: 60 "

Leech: 119"

The sail does not form a right angle at the clew (between the foot and the leech). The clew is elevated so the angle is wider.

I would guess that you probably have enough material. But one of the differences is that the 16's jib has battens which may have a tendency to hang up more on the Wave mast when tacking. You may have to remove them if that happens.
