Mr. Miller,
I am looking for jib hanks for my wave. I purchased the ones in the hobie catalogue but they seem to small. My thought is that I might have a over sized upper forestay which makes clipping on the jib hanks impossible. Are there one size bigger jib hanks? My wave is a SE 1996 or 1997 model I believe.
Clark Perkins South Dakota.

Just one sized hank. Fits 1/8" wire.

You might be trying to clip each hank onto the coated portion of the wire ... and you would be right - it doesn't fit.

Make sure you have an inch or so of bare wire just above the fore stay adjuster. If not, the cut the coated portion back a bit until you do. Slide the hank in sideways over the bare wire and then twist to vertical. Once attached in that manner, it will slide up perfectly over the coated wire. You have to do that for each hank when raising the jib.

Reverse the process for each hank when removing the jib.

Correct, not designed for coated wires. Only bare.

I went out after mr Miller said that there is only one size. So I found larger jib hanks they go over the plastic on the wire. But will make sure I take off a inch of plastic to make it even easier to put the jib on and off thanks for the information I will wait a couple more days next time . Clark
