Post subject:  Wave Trapeze

I just downsized from the 18 to the Wave in order to teach my daughters how to sail. I had inquired at my local Hobie dealer about adding a trapeze to the boat, as I have had so much fun on the trapeze on the 18. My dealer's thoughts were the trapeze doesn't work so well on the Wave.

Does anyone have a trapeze on their Wave?? Is it worth adding on? Is the boat just not strong enough structurally for it, or is flying a hull just very hard on this boat, hence a trapeze would be impractical.

I have some old 20 wires I plan to cut down to make trap wires on the wave for my kids (4 and 6). They can not possibly place enough weight on the wire to make any amount of difference, but I will never be able to use the wire. The kids really like to trap off the 20, but it will be nice to allow them to play and practice on the wave.

I would consider the trapeze on the Wave a simply a training tool. You can not sail single handed on it without adding a hiking stick and the rig is simply not that powerful. Great for teaching kids.
