I was hoping to put Scotty fly rod holders in the stock flush mount in my Oasis. I ordered the Scotty Gimbal adapter and found that it just free spins in the holder. Evidently there are locking pins needed that the Hobie flush mounts don't have.... Does anyone know if there are adapters available to lock the mounts in? The Scotty rep I spoke to had no clue....

Thank you for any tips you all might have.

Stilly, can you remove the actual factory rod holder? If so you can just put a screw with nut towards its base to hold the other holder in place.

Can you reach the rod holder if it's a formed part of the kayak, you can do the same again screw with nut towards the base.

How about this thought, a wood plug of same dia of holder but cut the top of the plug so it has the raised center strip. Slide the wood down the existing holder. You'll have to have the wood just over the size of the ID of the existing holder.

It is a factory rod holder. I didn't want to modify it too much because there are times when I want to use it for spinning rods as well. I think this other method I just saw on utube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OonwVQXVp8&feature=plcp will be best for me. I just want it solid, but adjustable......

Thank you all for the tips!

I finally figured out my rod holder problem! I was happy to see the solution another flyfishing kayaker came up with using the Scotty brackets, mounted to a T connection of PVC. Although it seemed to work, it looked a little more complicated than I wanted. So I took a couple of the Scotty flush mounts, cut off the excess with a bandsaw ( just went around the ring on the mount) and took a 1 1/4 in PVC pipe that snugly fit without modifications...... I used some Gorilla PVC glue to secure it & it works perfectly! The 1 1/4 inch PVC is sloppy in fitting in the Hobie pre-molded rod holders, but there are many ways to thicken the diameter to fit snug. The video in a previous post just taped on some furniture moving felt..... (The stuff that helps furniture slide on a wood floor.) I'm sure there are other options as well, but I think this method of the flush mount along with the 1 1/4 PVC is as simple & solid as it gets. Here's a couple pics of the system. https://picasaweb.google.com/1123125188 ... directlink

I also wanted to share my joy - I found a new interesting platform for earning - https://forestcasinos.co.nz/casino-kingdom/. You should familiarize yourself with this.

Stilly, can you remove the real factory rod holder? If this is the case, you can simply screw a screw with a nut into its base to hold the other holder in place.
