Seals and sea lions. Sometimes they will steal a fish right off your line. Anything from a baitfish like a mackerel to a 20lb. yellowtail. A real pain in the wazoo. They are pretty smart. They know kayaks and other fishing boats mean an easy meal, so they'll follow your around until something better comes along or you don't catch a fish fast enough for them.

I've heard many complaints about seals scaring fish too. Oh, then there's the whole shark attraction thing.
I've only had 1 encounter with a seal & fishing was slow to begin with.

I've read of many instances of sea lions messing with kayakers. Below is one example.

It's got to be scary enough in a kayak, I can only imagine how divers must feel...

Nope. I'd be on the lookout for Walrus if they are in your area, but, you'll know soon enough if one pops up. Only problem here are sharks. Image
