I've had my Revo for almost a year, and now want to mount my Humminbird 565 from my johnboat. I've bought a remount kit with another mount/transducer/power cable etc. I've reviewed most of the foam puck installs, but I'd rather try outside the hull right now.

One reason is I have mutliple kayaks, canoes, etc. I'm thinking of using a Scotty receiver that all my paddle boats have.

Anybody see any pics of outside the hull installs? I know there are some great ideas out there. I'm kinda thinking of an all in one compact deal that stabs into the Scotty mount, has an arm hanging over with transducer, just run power to battery and store in hull.

Another thought is to be able to use that arm and point the transducer out like a sidefinder around docks, cover, etc as I'm in shallower water a lot. Anybody have much experience doing such?

Anyway, all talk and pics about mounting outside the boat would be appreciated!

mnormand,

I posted this back in 2008 and maybe will help you a little in keeping your fish finder portable with the ability to swap between boats. Scan down the post a bit and you will see my portable setup which is still working great. Just add water to the foam block and no permanent mount necessary.

A Thrill Ride is being dragged around in your kayak for 40 minutes by an extremely large fish.
