Just about to join the hobie team. i am in newyork city.Fishing mostly Jamaica bay
Saw to lightly used kayaks today in Long island. One is a 2010 outback 1275$ The other is a 2011 revo 1250$.Just looking for your expert opinion for a better bay boat?Owned a scupper pro last year found it a little to tight to fish from. I have until Sunday 4/22/12 to make up my mind going to test drive both of them. Thanks in advance tight lines to all Scott from NYC

The Outback is roomier. The Revolution is lighter, faster and "tighter."

You'll know which one is right for you once you test both of them.

I also vote for testing both. But, I fish with a friend that has an Outback and I have a Revo 13. I like his as it is bigger and more stable, but then it is heavier to load into the car, and stiffer to handle.

If I could do it again I would by a Revo, but an 11 foot one.

I use my kayak mostly for inshore and estuary fishing.

I have an Outback, I love fishing out of it, its roomy comfortable and stable. Last Saturday I spent the day fishing a lake and covered around 15 kilometres in a head wind - no problems. The only bad habit the OB has is hull slap, this is because of the bouyancy in the bow and relatively short water line the OB goes up and over chop then thumps down throwing up spray, which can get tedious. I have recently discovered 3/4 filling my Hobie dry bag with sand and putting this in the nose of the yak goes a long way to solving the problem. Its also a bit heavy and unbalanced for loading on the roof of a vehicle. I have added an extra handle behind the seat which is a great lifting aid. The OB is not that much slower than a revo. In saying that Revo owners seem to rate their yaks very highly.
