Can anyone recommend a brand of long pants for fishing in warm/hot weather? I always wear long sleeve shirts and big hat but really need to cover the legs too.

That's what I use, and I'm in Costa Rica, so it is always sunny and hot where I fish.

I have both Columbia PFG and WWS convertible fishing pants. I almost always leave the pants portion on though. In my opinion, there is nothing more time consuming on the water than re-applying sun block on your legs correctly and then trying to get your hands de-greased to go back to fishing.

The bean counters in control of what used to be good fishing/boating/kayaking pants have lowered the quality of what used to be good pants.

One area is very low UPF ratings, often well below 20. A low UPF rating in fishing pants for use in a Yak, could be a severe problem.

Another area is the quality of the pants. Cabela's house brand used to be great, and now their customer ratings are dropping like big rocks in a lake.

I have been using UA shirts/tops for over 5 years. All of my tops are still in great shape. I wear them fishing, walking and hiking. My wife has no problem with me wearing them to go places with her. My wife has outfitted me with UA's bright yellow long sleeve tops to be seen in my/our yaks.

I started using their t's a couple of years ago, and I will go to their Charged Cotton long sleeve t's when it heats up out here.

This season as my Cabela's an C brand pants go past their safe use, I will be replacing them with UA' pants. I will probably go with the tan as the black colors in summer sun can heat me up more than I want.

I have several pairs of these Simms zip off pants.

The lighter color helps to reflect the sun and they dry very quickly when wet.
I do zip off the legs to get some sun and then reattach to prevent sun burn.
They are rated UPF 30... :)

+1 on the Columbia PFG. Great fishing apparel.

I use the magellan shrts and pants from Academy. They are SPF rated and dry quickly. And the price is reasonable. I did just buy one if those head covers. You can use them in many ways, from covering you neck to covering you whole head. If Academy sells food like walmart, I wouldnt shop anywhere else.

I got a pair that was barely used due to size changes of the person, who bought them.

After a couple of recent yak trips and just wearing them around town, I will be buying more of these pants. Very comfortable, and they dry off very quickly as you noted.

I have Simms gear that is approaching a decade of use, and the stuff is amazingly still good.
