Post subject:  Hobie Outback for tall people?

Any of you Outback owners fall into the tall category? I'm 6'4" and a I'm currently fishing out of a PA 14. I was considering picking up an Outback for using offshore b/c it would be easier to surf launch and recover. This boat would also pull double duty by allowing my 9 year old to pedal his own boat on our trips rather than sitting on the back of my PA. I was told on another website that with my height the only Hobie that I would fit in was a PA 14 or PA 12. Is this true? I have a 34" inseam and would like to test ride an Outback but was wondering if it would even be worth the effort. Obviously with me using it for offshore fishing I would have to be pretty comfortable in the boat.

In my current PA 14 I keep my pedals set on either 5 or 6. I swap the position thoughout the day just to give my knees a little break from being at the same angle all day.

My inseam is 33 inches (trying buying those off the rack) and I can easily fit into an Outback with one pedal notch to spare.

I'm 6'3" and 235lbs. My inseam is 34" and I have a 2011 Outback. The pedals are set on 7 and work fine. I usually don't do a full extension stroke but it will knock the back wall slightly if you do. This boat is super stable and I can sit sideways on it to access the back area if needed.

I am about 6'3 or 6'4 and I find the cockpit a bit cramped. I have my pedals set at 7 and they hit the kayak on a full stroke. It was really annoying at first, but now I am used to it and just pull up a bit short. It is not enough of a problem to make me get rid of my Outback, but I am not sure I would ever buy another one. In the end, if you are not a fairly hard core cyclist then you may not notice this at all. I would of course recommend a test pedal before deciding.

I am 6'4+ AND 220 and find the cockpit just the right size. I have a 34" inseam and the pedals on "7" and do max them out. But only doing that when I am in a sprint! Going to find a taller seat though! Any one have that issue?
