I bought my son one of the over sized rudders for his 2012 revolution 13. He says it went on easy, deploys normally, but when He tries to pull it up, its hanging on something and He can't get it all the way in unless He does it by hand at the back of the boat. Any thoughts on this? Is there a modification He'll need to do to make this work? Thanks any and all!!

Billy,

I have a sailing rudder on one of my Revo 13s and I have the opposite issue. Mine sticks on the bungee tie down when I try and deploy. I use my paddle or gaff to reach back and correct it. It is a minor inconvenience and worth it. I love the responsiveness of the larger rudder when offshore.

I had the same sticking problem. I solved it by rotating the bunger tie downs 90 degrees so the lip doesn't catch the rudder blade. I put a thin washer under it for a solid mount.

Hi,

I had similar issues. I did the following to the bungee and cleat:

Mike.

EUREKA!!!! How simple is that! Just swap them around and put the part that catches on the other side. I feel like a dummy for not seeing that. Hobie should make them that way from the factory. Great job, Mike.

Glad you find it useful - it was one of those "Lightbulb-above-your-head" moments!

I also removed the extra bungee loop that was used to retain the rear carry-handle, since I removed the handle (never use it).

Cheers,

Mike.
