Post subject:  Fisfinder Location on Outback

I have an 2012 Outback Mirage. Im installing a lowrance x4 pro fishfinder. The transducer is in place and now i would like some opinions on the mount location. The hobie install video shows the mount on the right side fore of the pole holder. Any one know about this location? It seems far away for sight and the controls?
Another area was in the depressed tray aft of pole holder. This area is closer to the user but may be in the way of bringing in a large fish or pole interference while using on that side.
One more location was in the depressed area near the right right handle? Any suggestions. Thanks in advance

I have my fishinder bungee chorded to the front hatch. I can reach the controls fine, but I am 6'4" and my arms are long for my height. I like it centered and down low like that so it is out of my way. I also have a pretty big screen which helps.

You can see my setup in this picture:

I shoot through the hull with the transducer and I run the battery and transducer cables in through the front hatch and then close the hatch with the same bungee that holds the fishfinder in place. No drilling for my setup.

Another thing I have seen folks do is use a ram mount in the sailing mast hole. If you add an extension arm you could move the finder around as you wished during the course of the day.

I fish inshore with light tackle and only have one rod holder mounted up front. I mounted that rod holder and my fish finder directly over the forward flush rod holder holes.

I mounted mine down in the depressed tray and would advise against it. The hull is thinner there and it makes for a lot more wiggle than I like.

Found this on the net, wich I think is a really smooth mount solution:
http://www.tallonsocket.com/lowrance/

Will consider this mount for my outback when i get it.

THAT looks like a great mounting solution!
