This past Friday was my scheduled day off, so what better way to spend it than on the water right? See, we do think alike!!
Weather was promising given the time of year, but sub-40 temps in the early morning will make you question your sanity at the least. I made up my mind, waited for the sun to crest the horizon and made the short trip to a hidden gem that I frequent at least a couple times a year.
Here's the summary:
Air temps - 39 at launch peaking at 51 on the day (forecast), slight breeze
Water temps - hovering at 50
Combos - three total (one casting with a double willow gold bladed SB; one casting with a square billed CB, and a a spinning setup with a PTL Craw D'oeuvre and a CB Draggin' Head)
Water clarity - murky with lots of submerged leaves
Water depths - pond was down two', but depths were 2-4' across the whole pond
Two total strikes, one landed.
Best bass - 19.75" LMB caught on the PTL Craw D'oeuvre (Deep Melon Pepper)
