Post subject:  Color question about Golden Papaya
So I got a new Revo 11 in Golden Papaya had it for couple weeks haven't been about to take it out yet :x So I have time ponder just wandering how this color holds up? I fish mostly in lakes rivers it appears this color is going to show a lot of muck and slime as it has a few black scuff marks from sitting in it in my basement with some black rubber soles (which I won't be wearing out in the water) It supposed to be my wifes ;) so she won't appreciate it coming back dirty. Just curious what I am in for as trying to keep this thing clean from the muck. I wash down my other one with fresh water after each use but don't really scrub it to much as it is a sand color?

I take PA14 Golden Papaya to the carwash and use the high pressure hose. Looks brand new when done.

The Papaya will give the appearance it is fading. You will notice it where the surface has a grain effect. It is just a fact of life as explained by Hobie due to the mfg process and the way the grain surface collects dirt/grime.

On my Outback, I have a hard time with dirt stains around the footwells and the MirageDrive hole - that textured surface is great for traction, but bad for collecting dirt and pluff-mud in those crevices.

I have had some success using Soft Scrub and a small cleaning brush - plus lots of patience. Dawn dish detergent works good too...

Every couple of weeks I'll use a car wash & wax soap to give the Outback a good bath - it keeps it shiny & bright yellow.

One year so far and the color on mine is intact for the most part. I only get one once or twice a month, so that might have something to do with it.
Re stains: Rust stains from some of the screws comes on quickly, but can be prevented if you're more careful than I. Rust and fishblood stains are easily removed with a wet rag and some dishwashing liquid. easy peesy.

Overall a great color; definitely more visible than my previous sand-colored Hobie Sport, and that's great where I paddle/pedal because of the motor boat traffic.

Mr Clean cleaning sponges work great on the non-skid surfaces. Just don't use it on the glossy parts.

Pick up a bottle of 303 aerospace protectant. Any Hobie dealer or auto parts store will have it. It will keep your boat bright and good looking. I usually apply every few weeks when I wash mine down.

I use dish soap and a scrub brush every couple of outings but a strange black stain builds up on the textured surfaces. I tried grease remover and all other types of cleaners but the only thing that worked was the Mr. Clean sponges that dregsfan referred to (I have not tried pressure washing yet). Aerospace 303 gets applied every month or so.
You can't tell the age difference of the bodies of our 2006 and 2012 papaya colored kayaks.

I know when you first get you Hobie it is so pretty and bright and that first scratch and that first smudge are heartrending. MY advice is to not worry about it. I don't worry if my stuff has some dirt stains on it. I figure any dirt is just an added layer of protection. When I get home from fishing I just quickly hose mine off. I would rather use any time I would spend cleaning my Outback on playing with my kids or fishing a bit longer or playing. Just my 2 cents.

Of course the best way to keep your Hobie looking new is to leave it in the garage :)
