You should not have to worry about the cables permanently attached in the kayak for the sounder/gps. The leads and cables are almost always brass and will not rust and are very resistant to corrosion.

Just saw Scrumpys post below. I only fish fresh water - about 550 miles from any slat water! Guessing saltwater adds some additional challenges to brass and all thing electronic!

I apply a little dielectric grease to the connections every 3-4 trips. I've never had any issues in 9 years (saltwater fishing).

Hey, nice fit out! I really appreciate all the thought you put into it.

Not including the Kibble Vault, how much weight did your mods add to the bare boat?

FYI, one of the key features of the Kibble Vault is that screw-on lid, which I have discovered is designed for the typical 5-gallon utility buckets, and they are available at Home Depot of all places (~$9.00).
