How heavy does my tackle need to be to troll umbrella rigs for freshwater stripers? My bass Rods are 7'1 MH with Lews speedspool reels, spooled with 20 lb flouracarbon? Would these be able to handle the umbrella rigs and/or the fish or do I need to buy heavier tackle? Thanks |

I fish stripers in Beaver lake AR. Large, deep and lots of submurged timber. I use 12lb instead of 20lb because when you get tangled on the bottom or a tree you can not break it from the kayak. I also like the "light" line fishing. I also use what they call a "Missouri" rig. It only has 3 wires instead of the "A" rig. With the MO rig normal bass tackle will handle it depending on what you attch to each point of contact. Good luck and get some pictures. Jim |

I live in Little Rock, so I am trying to get the right tackle to go down to Lake Ouachita and hook some good ones. So it sounds like you guys are saying that my current tackle is fine depending on what I attach to the umbrella rigs? |
