Hallo, fishing kayak friends.
I am new on this forum, and like to introduce after just reading the forum for the last months.
Because I love the mirage drive system, love to build wooden canoes (dutch and canadian art) and love to go fishing I have combined all three.
I have put the results in a blog:

http://vis-kayak.blogspot.nl/

Sorry, it is in dutch. I think the pictures say more than the words, otherwise use google translate :)

Are there more DIY kayak builders on the forum?

Best regards, Bolletje

That is one beautiful, Mirage drive kayak you have built!

Your kayak is beautiful. A work of art. But did you really build it in your spare bedroom? Or did you just carry it in there for the pictures? My workshop is much messier and dirtier than your spare bedroom. And the bedroom looks like it's up on the top floor under the roof. How did you get the kayak out of the house?

Hi guys, here are the answers on frequently asked questions:

"how does it perform"?" . . . like an angel :)
"Do you have the plans?" . . not yet. I constructed it pure on knowledge and experience.
"How much time does it cost to build?" . . . I started early 2013 (jan-febr) and it took me 4 months, almost every day one or two hours, and some long days (e.g. for the epoxy coating)
"do you sell it?" . . . . . . . . over my dead body
"What is the weight?" . . . . The empty hull is 35 Kg
"What is the size?" . . . . . . . 3,96 meter long, 92 cm width
"Did you build it in your spare bedroom? . . . . I don't have one, I have a big bedroom and a very tolerant wife
"How did you get it out of the house?". . . . Via the Velux roof on the 2th floor, "abseilen" on a rope with carabiners (mounteneers technique and equipment). See the last picture in the blog.

Best regards, Ben
