Hobie introduced us to the Micro Power Pole in the recent fishing worlds and competitors were more impressed than they were expecting to be. I edited this clip together (on behalf of SLH) that demonstrates the powerpole in action, how they are fitted to a Pro Angler and includes some initial impressions.

I was under the impression that the unit would be mounted on the rear simply by removing the rear loading handles and bolting the unit to the PA?

Also thought there was an internal battery built into the Micro Power Pole unit???

Did I fall to sleep at the wheel or something????

Yeah, sounds like you may have been lead astray. I'm not sure, though I am sure that these units require the PA mount system and external battery (in this case a 9 Amp Hour 12v battery).

I can see this being for fresh water only in our area.

Understand there will be two models of this for the PA. One will have an internal lith battery and the other will require an external power source.

You might be right for all I know. And yeah, an internal battery version makes more sense to me though the unit is heavy enough as it is, so I wonder how much its going to amount to with battery built in. That'll be a lot of weight hanging off the stern, but I don't think thats likely to be an issue for a PA. But those guys out there with Sports or Ourfitters eyeing this thing off... forget it ;-)
