The larger surface area of the sailing rudder grabs a lot more water and I have found that it makes a significant difference when you are in rough waters.

I started with a Revo 13 and I had been out on some pretty rough days with the stock rudder and I had plenty of moments where I had trouble steering. I added the sail rudder and I noticed a vast improvement in handling under those conditions.
