Wisdom of the ages lurks in many short fishing sayings, such as:

"If the bite is light, go slight. " (Reminding us to go to smaller line and lure sizes when conditions are tough.)

What fishing tips in the form of short sayings do you know that suggest lessons newbies and others should ponder?

Thanks.

Here in SoCal we say, "When the winds are from the east, the fish bite the least".
This is due to high barometric pressure levels which in turn create "santana" winds off the desert.
