Enjoy putting that together. ....I ran an h-crate last year on my pro angler. Wasn't very impressed. ..decided to try the blackpack this year with the hobie tackle bins...

Yeah I knew ahead of time it was a pain to put together. I used some of the advice here on the forums (soap, workbench corner) and it only got me so far. I found the best thing to do was use my pipe clamps! Clamped that sucker down and forced them into place.

I know it has the "peg board" sides so I am trying to figure out how to use them. Already have enough space for fishing poles as the four corners are helpful.

For what it's worth, I have settled on using 2 bungee cords and 2 of the straps that came with my H Crate. Knowing that I won't travel with the H Crate installed, I wanted something easy to take off and put on. Unfortunately on the 17t, the rear straps have to either loop the rear handle or clip onto itself as there are not four eye hooks to anchor to. The straps aren't long enough to loop and if you clip onto the strap itself, they are a pain to remove. And I refuse to let the straps dangle and flop around while transporting.

So I found that some 18in black bungee cords were perfect. I adjusted the foremost Hobie straps to get the H crate as close as possible to the rear of the kayak. I looped the bungees around the rear handle and it is super stable. I will post some pics soon.

Here is mine. You will see I have two boxes on the outside rails. Inside I keep all my tackle boxes, most of which are the size to fit in the kayak hatch compartment.

You will see on the back there is a Scotty mount for which I put my yak attack flag pole & anchor light combo. In that same pic you can see how I doubled up on the bungee cords as I mentioned in a previous post.

I normally have my net and fishing poles in the corners holders when on the water too.

I made some side panels for my H crate. The outside holds my tools, pliers, Thermacell, etc, the flap that hangs on the inside has pouches for little stuff, small braid scissors, fishing license, bait jars. I made one for the front that keeps my anchor and line out of the way, and a back one that gives me some options that work well with my rod holders. I also replaced the long tie straps with some shorter ones that use small carabiners instead of clip hooks. To be honest, I'm kind of surprised Hobie hasn't brought something like this to market yet (wink wink).

H-Crate shown with:

2 x H-Rail Tackle Bin, part 84623001
1 x H-Rail Cup Holder, part 84621001
1 x H-Rail Might Mount, part 84620153
1 x Panfish Camera Pole, part 72020055 (RAM options also available)
1 x H-Crate Soft Cover, part 72020097

The only other thing I typically add is a couple extra rod holders (Part Number 72020015), and they're a breeze to install with just a Phillips screw driver.

Does H crate fit on a hobie oasis? If so, Where?
