No, I just went out to garage to try it, just to make sure. It was close however.

The answer is maybe. It will not fit in the back of my sons 2016 outback but the very same bucket will fit in the back of the 2016 outback on display at my dealer. I think each mold run may be ever so slightly different for whatever reason and the fit is so close that it will fit some and not others.

After the boats are released from the mold, there are slight variations in how they cool and contract. There's a similar challenge if you install the rectangular hatch and bucket in the Outback. The rectangular bucket *almost* fits my mod'ed Outback but for other folk it fits no problem.

Not Hobie's fault if it wasn't designed to fit that particular hatch/boat guaranteed. I'm going to try "squish" the bucket into place by filling with boiling water so the bottom deforms to fit. Hoping the bucket doesn't crack.

The deep gear bucket will not fit properly in the aft hatch of the Outback.
