Now that I just splurged on a new Revo I'm looking to purchase a FF. No need for chart plotting.
Cabelas has this unit at $169. Recommendations welcomed.

The Hook 4 and Elite 4 are basically the same unit. I have the Elite 4 Chirp. i thought I saw some deals on the Elite 4 Chirp with GPS for $200. Looking to see if I can find that deal for you. Personally, I would not have it without GPS. Being able to use the Navionics charts, mark fish, ledges, and points of interest is incredibly powerful. You can map your trips ahead of time, track you progress, and see your speed. I rarely use the sonar except when peddling to a location and I use it mostly for depth readings. I mostly use Nav and downscan when fishing.

Under $200 would be great if you can find it. I can only find them at $300 +
and the Elite series is not included in the $50 rebate program...
I can find them for about $245, but without CHIRP.....

To be clear....to cover all bases I am best off with a Lowrance Elite4 that has CHIRP with downscan and GPS
Chartplotting....is that correct ?

There were a bunch of sales going on, but cannot find a good one right now. The Lowrance Hook 4 is the newer model of the Lowrance Elite-4 Chirp. Same, basic unit, different name, same transducer - with Chirp - which is really just a marketing term. Retail right at $300. If you can apply the $50 rebate, it is a heck of a unit. I have the Elite-4 Chirp and like it, but am getting ready to pull the trigger on an 7 Ti with total scan. The 4" screen was perfect for my last kayak, but the PA has opened up a lot more water for me to cover and I think the 7" screen plus side scan will really be a game changer.

Looking forward to getting it set-up...with the $50 rebate and $62 dollar "credit" I got from my Amazon credit card it was a great deal.

That's the exact one I have. GPS for me is critical just for the speed over ground.

Took it out for the first time yesterday. I was fluke fishing so it didn't show fish, but I was able to stay in the channel at all times, which I feel increased my catch.
2 keepers, 4 shorts, and 2 nice fish lost at the yak because I forgot my net (what a putz).

I am surprised that there is no "battery life" capability. I thought for sure there would be one, and I can't find any reference in the manual. That would be a great help.

You can set the device to show battery voltage
