I've had my 7ti out a few times now and have noticed an issue with the side scan. The view to the left is much brighter than the right. The right side is almost dark. I've tried switching sides and the view just reverses (same problem). I'll call Lowrance on Monday, but I was hoping someone might have some insight as to what might be happening. My gut is telling me I have a bad transducer, but I'm not really sure. Anyone have an idea as to what might be happening? Thanks!

Your transducer is not on a level plane would be my guess. I notice if I don't get my transducer just right, my DSI 800khz won't function properly, or fade badly. I also use the 7TI but not with the totalscan. For fresh water and shallow ocean I am using the 83/200 on the Revolution 11, for deeper water on the TI Hobie 50/200. Loving the Lowrance Elite 7TI so far.

That makes sense. However, I've got the transducer mounted on the bottom of my Outback. There really isn't a good way to "level" it. It should be simple enough to test tough, I'll just tip the kayak a little to the dark side and see if the image changes. Should be a great way to test it out. Thanks for the help!

I think I found the problem. I have one of these covers for the transducer:

I removed it and found a couple of small sticks and some other small stuff in the transducer cavity. Cleaned it all out, put it in my pond, and it seems to working properly again! Lesson learned. Hope this helps someone that might have a similar problem.

I recommend to people to clean out their transducer pocket frequently, you would be amazed at what collects in there.

This is what was in mine the last time I cleaned it out.
