I went out today for the first time with a new trolling motor set up. A 36lb thrust, secured by two crossbars that fit inside the rod holders on my Revo13. I found that the weight of the motor and battery behind me made the kayak rear end heavy, to the point that the well under my Vantage seat would not drain (back to a wet ass for the day).
As far as power, I was fighting a strong tide and wind on my return, and the motor basically kept me in place for the most part if I stopped pedaling. I was hoping for a bit more, and am a bit disappointed. I'll see if I can move the battery to the forward hatch to balance it out. It looks like I'll have to plan my trips with the tide once again.
