Did this occur when I launched or came in from La Jolla?
I was having issues with my Hook 5 not showing the bottom definition past 130 feet or so.

Somebody had a brilliant idea in response to this...
here we go: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=51295

It doesn't really affect my transducer (Hook4) on the way out to sea and when I come home I always hose off the kayak including the transducer pocket. I think it would only be a problem if you allowed sand/debris to build up in there.

I'm guess it can happen if you slide your kayak backwards on the sand. Even if only slightly while unpacking or manoeuvring onto trolley. I find the seat drain venturi drain gets blocked as well.

I find that drain plug utterly useless
I'm probably going to modify it to pass a wire for an underwater LED instead.
