Newbie fishing

So I know everyone on here for the most part does a lot of fishing in their Hobie Pro Anglers. I just am curious does anyone just go out and fish pan fish and not worry with the Bass? Sometimes I feel like when I go out and fish just for bluegills or perch and I come across other yakers I get that look of what the heck are you out here using your zebco 33 lol. I just wondered was all I guess I just haven't mastered the bait casters and the spinning rods and comfortable with Bass fishing. Am I the only one that does this or feels this way? Real newbie in the fishing world I assume.

Hey, whatever you enjoy, don't care about the other guys. The more you are out there, the more comfortable you will feel, and think about switching to other reels. Spinning reels are very simple to use, so that's your next step. Personally, I'm not a big fan of baitcasters, but I fish mostly salt water. Just enjoy your time on the water. You will find with experience, you will move to bigger and better gear. Start talking to guys when you are ready, and get tips on good gear before you buy.

I agree with Johnsyak, do what you enjoy and who cares what others think. I bass fish exclusively out of my yak but thats just me. I really don't think other boaters are looking at you funny though, it may be your owm perception.

Also, absolutely no reason you cannot bass fish with spinning rod. You may want to buy some 5" senkos and learn to hook them texas rig or wacky worm style. While you pan fishing give this a try, yiu'lll be surprised what you get.

One of my favorite technigues with spinning rod is to skip senkos under brush, docs, and into cover.
