Congratulations to Hobie on the 2019 Outback! I have been very happy with my Revolution, but from the perspective of an angler it was a bare naked do-it-yourself kit, with few features for fishing. The 2019 Outback duplicates or exceeds most of the fishing customization I've done on my Revolution, and has some features I've long wished that my Revolution has. And the H-Bar/gear track pairs in front of the seat would provide a stable base for a downrigger. My question: is Hobie going to produce a downrigger base which can be purchased as an accessory for the 2019 Outback? The base could be sold either by itself, or with a shortened downrigger already mounted on it, such as my favorite kayak downrigger, which is a shortened Cannon Lake-Troll.

For a description of how I installed a shortened Cannon Lake-Troll on my Revolution, an explanation of why I set up my kayak the way I did, and an explanation of how to use a downrigger on a kayak, see http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/in ... #msg138905 .

I was hoping you were going to come up with a plan that I could duplicate for my Outback :)

But I agree, it would be nice to get a Hobie approved setup ... I wouldn't hold my breath though.

What year is your Outback? Or are you going to buy a 2019 Outback?

In my 2017 Outback I have a Scotty Laketroller mounted in the tray on the right side on a track. I was also wondering what I'd do if I get a 2019 since the front end of the tray was moved back to make room for the right side rudder control.
