Post subject:  Hardware of choice with no inside access?

I’ve been trying to figure out what type of blind nut I should use on my kayak. I have no inside access where I would like to install them. The two types of hardware I was looking at was stainless steel jack nuts as well as heat set brass inserts. However I don’t know if the jacknuts would work with the thicker plastic that kayaks have and I don’t know if the brass inserts would be able to hold much weight without tearing out. Any advice is much appreciated and thankyou in advance!

Not sure what you're trying to install but KayakDYI on YouTube has a video that may give you some ideas on another option.

Sorry I'm having trouble getting the YouTube link to cooperate. Here is the website address.

I personally would avoid heating the plastic on my kayak unless I absolutely had to.

Depending on what you're looking to install, the Hobie well nuts are a great option. I wouldn't recommend mounting something to them that puts a huge amount of load on the hull. They are strong enough for anchor trolley installations and sidekick ama kit installations.
