Post subject:  Hobie outback leak in the deck well.

Matt or somebody from hobie, I have a leak and is it covered on my warranty or can I fix it myself. in the deckwell where the hobie mirage drive sets in, that is where the leak is. down on the bottom of the front lip, I will provide a photo to better explain.

You see the lip on the front of the mirage drive in photo 1, and photo 2 just shows you the well, and if you look at photo 3 the pinhole leak is in the bottom of the front lip, where the front lip drive rest on. On photo 3 it is the area that looks a little white or gray, that is where the water is coming into my kayak from, how can I fix this or do I need to send it in.
I know it leaks there because I filled my kayak up with water and that was the only place the water dripped out of.

thanks ahead of time,

take it to your dealer and have them look at it. All warranty must be run through an Authorized Dealer.

Thanks for the reply sunjammer, but what can I do to fix it, I only have about 2 more good months to fish, I don't want to miss out, after OCT my fishing season will be over and I can afford to send it in and be without my yak. I know if I send it to hobie, it could be along time before I get it back, Matt you there can you help on this one????

thanks
Mack

we've had with a few boats with this problem, we could get nothing to fix it, and Hobie got the new hulls to us in about 2 weeks. The process will go faster if you dealer contacts Hobie, they should be able to get your new hull on the next truck headed in your area. We've even swapped out of our existing inventory to help out a customer, don't expect every dealer to do this it depends on the lead time from Hobie to replace there stock and there current inventory level.

I replied on your other post already...

But, can it be fixed to use now? Likely, but once the hull is cracked below the waterline, we don't like to make suggestions that can possibly fail once again and cause you problems while on the water.

So, File a warranty claim with your dealer.

Thanks sunjammer and MMiller,
I did call my dealer today, Appomatics River Company here in VA Beach, and he said to bring it in, I am in luck because this week is the Kayak fishing tournament and Hobie is a big sponsor and there are a few Hobie Reps coming to his store on Friday. and he said they can check it out, so I am in luck, and while I am at it, I would like to thank hobie for supporting the annual TKAA fishing tourney.
