The MLPA (Marine Life Protection Act) is coming to Southern California and bringing fishing closures with it. The Kayak Fishing Association of California is working within this largely political process to site the legislatively mandated reserves where they will have the smallest possible impact on kayak fishing launch sites and fishing areas, but still provide high conservation values.
We need every SoCal kayak angler's help with the effort.
The Southern California Launch Sites List is a mapping project to document every saltwater kayak fishing area between Pt Conception and the US - Mexico border. If we don't know about your launch site, we can't try to protect it.
Please visit the project's webpage and tell us where you fish. The site is located at
http://www.kfaca.org/launchsites.htm. We are using the free, easy to use Google Earth program as our mapping tool.
Launch site information will be tightly held, only released as necessary during the MLPA Stakeholder effort.
Thank-you.
