Post subject:  In Search of Fish

Friday I was able to scrape together enough to bail my new Revo out of layaway. All of the lakes up here are still frozen but some have small openings and I couldn't wait. I know there are landlocked salmon in some of these lakes.

Eastman Lake, the one nearest my home, is still solid but is getting a bit green and mushy in spots. It won't be long now. No chance to try the new boat there. What I had seen of Lake Sunapee last weekend made me think there might be a good patch of open water there yesterday. Wrong. From the landing it only took about 10 minutes to make a sslllllllowwwwww walking troll around the opening. I made an early morning launch in 35º water and started trolling and casting. I like this boat so much I spent almost 5 hours going around and around and back and forth. No fish but what a blast.

This thing will turn very quickly and seems more responsive all around than the Outback. In fact, I didn't find one bad thing to comment on. Started getting some good ideas on where to mount things by reaching different directions to test stretch and heights. Sure is fun being able to troll while holding the rod.

This is going to be nice. Oh yeah, no fish but I don't even care. A couple more weeks and there will be pictures of fish. For now, here is a picture of what I am up against at Eastman Lake and the others around here.

That is a beautiful lake. How come you bought the standard Revo instead of the northern model? The northern model comes with the turbo fins and a 1/4" steel plate on the nose for ice breaking and instead of the twist and stow they have a small battery powered auger to cut a fising hole with.
