http://picasaweb.google.com/petegreenway/06072009?feat=directlinkSunday late afternoon I went in search of Stripers below Carpenter Dam on Lake Catherine. This is usually a good location this time of year to find some topwater action. I was on the water by 5:00pm, and had a relaxing peddle the 1 1/2 upstream from where I put in.
I did troll a shad like crankbait on the way up toward the dam, but no takers.
There wasn't as much action until about 45 minutes before sunset. I did have lots of follows on a C10 redfin, but they didn't seem to want it so much. It's usually the bait of choice around these parts, especially if the fish aren't actively feeding often they'll blow up on one of those swimming on the surface.
All the hookups I had were on breaking fish throwing my trusty Super Spook! I hooked several, but had alot of pull offs, didn't break my line.
I did land the one 9 lb fish, quite a lot of fun. That area has alot of fish in the 30 -50 lb range. I'll be going back often this summer and fall, as it's a quick trip for me.
Hope everyone else are catching fish!
Yak On!
