The Mirage "Classic" was Hobie's first pedaling kayak and was built from 1997 to 2006. It was originally just called "Mirage" until more models surfaced and the boats had to be distinguished further, probably around 2002 or 2003. The very first Mirages were made of fiberglass but by the model year 1999 or 2000 the were rotomolded PE. The serial # gives the model year (last 2 digits). The majority of the older Mirage Classics are in SoCal. If I remember correctly the cockpit was updated around 2005. Fun little boat -- I hated to see them go!
