Post subject:  sail kayak vs hobie wave

I have a hobie wave that I bought to teach my wife and daughter to sail. I was kinda kickin around the idea of buying a kayak with the sail option for myself while they are on the wave. The wave is pretty slow for a cat, can any of the kayaks keep up with a wave under sail?

Good question but I don’t think the fastest (Adventure+Sail) would keep up with a cat. Now if there were no wind the kayak would be faster and could even tow the wave.

I have never owned a cat but have sailed with cats on my sailboat.

Post subject:  Wave vs Kayak?

Wave vs Kayak? Yep the Wave is faster in most conditions. Much more sail area and more stable, but the Mirage kayak has an advantage in light to no wind with the pedals! Also, the kayak can pedal in any direction. Great tender for teaching the others on the Wave I think. You can tow them easily back to the beach.
