By now some of you reading my sailing mast posts elswhere may be aware I'm getting pretty excitied about trolling under sail. Particularly with the Sidekick coming out shortly.

I found this site that sells lures for sailing craft. Lure design is based on old ones of 50 years ago when powerboats only trolled at 6 knots.

I've order a couple of lures and will try simulating sailing pumping hard on my Mirage Drive (no turbo yet).

You don't need the heavy leader hardware and line they offer. Just order the skirted heads and install your own hooks. I'm also using American Fishing Wire stainless steel, brown, 86# test.

Your fishing is completely different from that my inland freshwater offers, but I salute your energy and enthusiam. Keep pushing the envelope using the best of the past and the present. Have fun!

Dan, if sailing along at 6 knots in a little kayak and one of those large fish strikes what do you think will happen to your yak? I think it would be like air brakes on a empty 5-Ton flatbed.

One is your drag setting

Two is the immediate sail luffing.
