Post subject:  furling device idea

this is just an idea for the hobie magicians.
how about creating a sail furling attachment that can be purchased separately for all older model kayaks with the mast hole.
the idea would be to have it slide into the mast hole with the necessary furling device just above the hull with an upper portion that can accept the current sail mast. maybe a smaller version of the furling device on the AI that can be drilled and pinned onto an older mast.
i don't pretend to be an engineer or know what i'm talking about but i'm hoping someone who is an engineer and does know what they're talking about might make it work. does it seem feasible?
i'd buy one if it can be produced.

Certainly worth a try.

I could see a bearing inside the mast tube. You could just wrap line around the existing mast without adding a drum. The drum diameter if larger would help though.

I have tied a line to the current mast and it seems to work okay.
