See:

Involves a small winglet on the tip of the rudder.I've read other stuff elsewhere. These things seem to work particularly down swell where you need it. Be sure to read other comments and those by Epic designer.

Could be what the Island guys are looking for. I certainly could have used it even with my 20 ft sq sail last weekend at Mahukona.

Only problem is the twist and stow aspect. You would lose it. So alternatives might be:

1. Drop twist and stow and use regular up and down rudder mechanism.

2. A Roadrunner like special. Some means of attaching quickly right at launch.

3. Hobie engineer solution. They may have looked at this type o rudder mechanism already.

How about a small recess in the deck for the winglet to stow in? Would have to be molded in, but shoud be feasible.

Still leaves the other side of the winglet sticking out, but would be neat!
