Hi all
Does anyone have any tips or experience with fixing a dagger well leak. Can i use the same fix from the Hobie 18 ?
Leak has been getting worse and yesterday we took on what felt like 500 litres of water which made for interesting sailing indeed and a real struggle to get it up the boat ramp on beach wheels.

We are new to H20 sailing - bought sail # 557 a few months ago who got it from a guy who brought it to Australia from Canada or USA a few years back. Does anyone what year she might be - can't find the seriel #s on the transom.

You ever type a reply and hit a wrong key and watch it go into cyber space? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

OK, the short version is to lay up a fiberglass repair on the trailing edge of the trunk. File off gelcoat, and lay up a couple of inches of glass four or five layers thick. I use regular polyester or vinylester resin to make gelcoat easier if you want to make it look pretty, but epoxy will work too (no one sees this). Pulling the boards up and down saws this area and causes leakes. It's normal wear and tear.

The other significant leak I found was at the bow tang. A smear of sealant here kept a couple of gallons out of the hulls on windy days. I was stunned by the amount of water going into this itsy bitsy space.

LOTS of discussion in these forums about H18 dagger well repairs. Use the search function. It works great.
