Post subject:  Corrosion repair on H-20 rear crossbeam?

I have some corrosion on my rear crossbar which I want to repair. My boat is a frequently used 1993 Hobie 20. The corrosion is under the two stainless fittings which attach the rear crossbar to the hulls. I have done similar hole patching on my mast using JB Weld, but a suggestion was made that I should use HTS-2000 for the repairs in the future because it is stronger. I ordered some HTS-2000 on Ebay yesterday and I await its arrival. From the videos on Youtube the HTS-2000 looks like it is fairly easy to use and extremely strong. My question is, will heating up the crossbar with a propane torch weaken the aluminum (loss of temper)? Or is that loss of temper only when one uses a welding torch? Does anyone have experience using HTS-2000 for repairs on their boat?

I have not checked to see if any new ones are still available. I thought I would try the HTS-2000 repair before I start looking for a new or used crossbar. I do know where a less used crossbar is available. That is my ace in the hole at this time. I received the repair supplies. Now I just have to get to work. I have a race coming up Sept. 28 so I need to get it done by then.

The HTS-2000 calls for a temp of 737F in order to braze the filler material to the aluminum. At that temp, I think you run the risk of locally anealing the crossbar (removing the heat treatment). So which is stronger, a corroded crossbar at full heat treat, or an anealed crossbar with aluminum filler? That's the million dollar question.
